The organisation represents and supports 42,000 GPs on issues of licensing, education, training, research and clinical standards. It works to improve education for GPs, by developing new qualifications and assessment methods for trainee doctors.

The challenge
Doctors have to undertake a continuous process of professional training throughout their careers, and each doctor must collect and submit a complex set of supporting documents.
The RCGP needed a unified system to manage its national, multifaceted appraisal process, bringing together multiple stakeholders. The system’s complex design had to be: always online; highly secure; integrated with the existing membership database; permission-based; extremely stable; and compatible with legacy systems and browsers.
The solution
Geeks Ltd created an online training portal allowing NHS primary care organisations, GPs and trainee doctors to collaborate, perform, manage and validate appraisals and training.
This software is mission-critical to the client's business model and crucial for its revenue stream. The application performed complex tasks and used a comprehensive set of rules-based controls to ensure all processes were documented correctly.
The system outperformed the legacy software it replaced and improved efficiency, freeing staff to be more productive.
